About Us

The village built the Green in 2000 to commemorate the Millennium.

We used National Lottery money to buy an old orchard from the local farmer Murray Maclean. We then carefully landscaped the area, planted 2000 trees, dug a pond and let nature do its thing.

The village now owns the Green through a Charitable Trust. Which means it can never be built on and will always be a protected park for villagers. Because we own it, rather than the Parish Council, it is our responsibility to manage it.

The Green Team of villager volunteers raises money, takes part in working parties and organises our events. We pick up the litter, repair any damage and put in improvements like the Mosaic Trail and Outdoor classroom.

Everyone is welcome to join us.

Two of our founders, Lesley Cowan and Paul Weaving, get the planting started in the year 2000.
