Events

There are three main events on the Millennium Green every year:

Aelfrith's March - 2.30pm Boxing Day

Aelfrith was a Mercian kings in the dark ages who build the earthwork along the eastern side of the Green as part of his defences against the invading West Saxons.  Our boxing day walk commemorates Aelfrith's efforts.  We all walk three times around the Green and, for those who successfully complete the course, free mulled wine and minced pies are served with gingerbread people for the children.

Easter Egg Hunt -  2.30pm Easter Sunday

Every Easter Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm we have a grand Easter Egg hunt for all the local children. Tags are hidden throughout the Green which children hunt down and then exchange for easter eggs.  As we normally have literally hundreds of children we have to limit it to one egg each.  However, some of the eggs are big than others and one or two are actually bigger than the children looking for the eggs!

Summer BBQ

This informal village BBQ takes place generally towards the end of the summer holidays. This year it's going to be part of our 10th Anniversary Celebrations
